The Arts are coming to the Pleasanton Farmer's Market!

The City of Pleasanton has co-sponsored a booth with PCAC that will be called Arts Encounter. The booth will provide an opportunity for families and people of all ages to interact with all the different arts disciplines. On the second Saturday of the month from April through October, PCAC will partner with different arts organizations to help introduce the community to different art fields, as well as the organization that specializes in that field. The booth will be located on the grassy area adjacent to the Farmer’s Market booths at Main Street and West Angela Street in downtown Pleasanton. There is no charge to the public – although donations are always welcome.

The first booth was on April 14, 2012, and had a color-by-numbers mural, designed by Ms. Langan's art class in Pleasanton Middle School. Everyone was invited to join in, color a square, and sign their name! The squares were pieced together to form a large 4' x 3' mural. The finished mural is on display at the Pleasanton Library.

April 14, 2012: Artists of all ages participate in the creation of the Community Mural at the first Arts Encounter Booth.
DESIGN MURAL: This mural was designed by Pleasanton Middle Schools students in Cassie Langan's Arts Class. Students researched ways to represent the arts in Pleasanton, graphed their design to enlarge it, then determined how it could be broken into individual squares for the community to complete.
COMMUNITY MURAL: Artists of all ages helped color in the individual squares for the mural. Each person picked their own colors and style to make up the whole and create a colorful work of art. Now on display at the Pleasanton Library

April 14, 2012:	Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council Color-by-numbers community mural.
May 12, 2012:	Museum on Main Old Time Toys: See them. Make them.
June 9, 2012:	Creatures of Impulse Join the “Creatures”and have fun experiencing the art of improv first-hand!
July 14, 2012:	Pleasanton Art League Create a work of art with your initials.
August 11, 2012:	Cantabella Children’s Choir Come learn and enjoy some fun children’s singing games and dances traditionally used by Kodály music teachers!
September 8, 2012:	Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council and Livermore Art Association Make your own 3D “upcycled” art.
October 13, 2012:	Amador Valley Quilters Budding Beginners Quilt Block: Design and make a quilt block in less than five minutes. For all ages.

All activities are family-friendly and FREE!
