Twilight

Twilight - Utility Box photoIn clear view at the corner of Kottinger Drive and First Street, Diana Diaz’s “Twilight” painted utility box offers a view of the trees of Pleasanton and their wondrous shapes, sizes, and colors.  Artist Diaz drew her inspiration from local trees found at Pleasanton Ridge and Kottinger Park.  The dark shapes of the daylight trees collapse into a dark blue sky. Twinkles of light poke through the approaching night, foreshadowing the closing of day. The rear of these utility boxes were not painted at the request of the nearby property owners. Twilight was commissioned in 2015 as part of Pleasanton’s “Project Paint Box”.  Diane Diaz grew up in the Kottinger Park area of Pleasanton and in 2004 received a BA in graphic design.”I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and Pleasanton has been my muse for most of my pieces.”  Later, she became an art docent at Heart Elementary School, Pleasanton. Diane has never ceased her admiration of Pleasanton trees and the magic they bestow with a single glance.
