Nature’s Bliss
Nature’s Bliss at the corner of Bernal Avenue and First Street, marked artist Alma Ramirez’s first public utility box artwork. It was completed in 2016 as part of Pleasanton’s Project Paint Box program. The design transforms a street-corner utility box into a luminous celebration of nature. A radiant golden sun rises against vibrant fields of blue, while delicate blossoms scatter across the branches of silhouetted trees. On the reverse side, swirling skies evoke the movement and mystery of night, recalling the energy of Van Gogh yet distinctly Ramirez’s own. With this joyful debut, Ramirez infused everyday urban space with color, tranquility, and wonder.
Alma Ramirez graduated from the University of Guadalajara with a degree in Business Administration. After marriage and the birth of her children, she returned to her childhood passion, sketching. Encouraged by her friend and fellow utility box artist Diana Diaz, Alma applied to Pleasanton’s Project Paint Box program. In her application, she wrote, “I put a little of my heart and soul into every piece of my art. My hope is that my paintings always capture the beauty and sensitivity I feel from inspiration to my final creation.” Your hope is celebrated!
