Dancers
Ebullient and uplifting, a Cor-tens brushed steel sculpture of two silhouette bodies stretches to the sky. The woman is gracefully balancing on a single leg with another leg raised and arching while her partner’s curvilinear body extends a trusting support hand. It is a ‘pas de deux’, a dance for two people. The sculpture is 108” H x 65” W and 30” D and is made of stainless steel and acid-etched steel.
Gary and Nancy Harrington privately funded the sculpture in 2011 through “Another Harrington Art Partnership Piece for You “(H.A.P.P.Y) with the intent to highlight dance as a performance art form. It is appropriately placed behind the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Ave, Pleasanton, where it captures daylight sun and collects night illumination from the theater marque.
Greg Hawthorne is a multi-talented artist. He works with a variety of media from paintings and full-color human figures to outdoor acid-etched sculptures, furniture, and fused glass.
