The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council was honored to participate in and support the 2020 Poetry Slam, produced in “virtual form” during the coronavirus lockdown. The slam allowed students to express some of their deeper emotions and values.
Kanchan Naik, the Teen Poet Laureate of Pleasanton–working with the Pleasanton Library and Recreation Department– put together a rich program of youth readings. Students videoed their performances in order to help create this virtual event.
PCAC contributed in this effort by supporting the Teen Poet Laureate Program financially, and by helping with the judging of the performances. PCAC was pleased to be included, especially because of the quality and creativity demonstrated by the students who competed. We hope you enjoy the program– Pleasanton’s First Virtual Poetry Slam– which Kanchan Naik has brought together. We commend her.
