During May of 2013, 2014, and 2015, PCAC designed, staged, and managed the Big Draw, a chalk and arts festival which drew about 3,000 people each year.
In Downtown Pleasanton, the Big Draw Arts Celebration, featured an array of live performers, professional and amateur, street-chalk artist, poetry chairs, and “Artful Bouquets,” a matching of flower arrangements and paintings in the Harrington Gallery in the Firehouse Arts Center.
The event was supported by generous sponsors, volunteer artists, musicians, and dancers, as well as volunteer helpers to stage the event. Also, a number of artists and crafts people set up booths to sell hand made wares to those who attended the event. Attendance was free to the public, so that many families and locals took in the event.
The LIVE PERFORMERS included singers, bands such as the Pleasanton Concert Band, Chinese-American and Indian-American ethnic dances, African-American drumming, visual arts demonstrations, sand painters, and so much more.

NOS ON MAIN STREET, advertised the event, and then talented pianists performed on them on the day of The Big Draw.
The “TAKE A SEAT” POETRY CHAIRS were created in a partnership between local poets and visual artists. All chairs were available for purchase through silent auctions on the day of The Big Draw, with proceeds going to Arts in the Schools.
The ARTFUL BOUQUETS AT THE HARRINGTON ART GALLERY, presented the flower arrangers’ interpretations of works on display at the gallery–so visitors could see how a floral designer could create a work out of flowers and greenery to go with a painting.
